44. Millbury, Massachusetts. Known as the “Central Massachusetts Resource Recovery Project”: “Wheelabrator sold plant to Ford Motor Credit Corp., for $180 million just after construction was completed. Tipping fees for contract towns ranges from $29 to $60/ton ($70/ton is spot rate).” Ref GAA 1993, p 347-348*. According to Lee Ketelsen of Clean Water Action (Tel: 617-423-4661) annual emissions for Mercury are estimated at 2,292 pounds. See also WN#s 7,73,87,203.

45. North Andover, Massachusetts. “Poor economy & recycling have reduced tonnage processed in the past two years. Holding off on air pollution control improvements; waiting for U.S. EPA guidelines. NESWC [Northeast Solid Waste Committee] in arbitration with Wheelabrator. Therefore, NESWC would not provide Operation & Maintenance costs for 1991 or 1992. Tipping fee for commercial haulers ranges from $30 to $45/ton.”-- Ref GAA 1993, p 350*. According to Lee Ketelsen
